Unresolved liturgy debate, abuse, stem cells, key topics for bishops

ORLANDO, Fla. (CNS) – A lively and intense debate over a 700-page translation of part of the Roman Missal dominated the public sessions of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) spring general assembly in Orlando June 12-14, but the bishops failed to come to a conclusion about the fate of the liturgical text.

Bush, pope meet in Vatican Gardens for private talks

VATICAN CITY (CNS) – In a cordial and festive visit to the Vatican, U.S. President George W. Bush met with Pope Benedict XVI in the lush Vatican Gardens for private talks, an informal stroll and a choral performance by the Sistine Chapel Choir.

 
 

Cardinal DiNardo appointed to Pontifical Council for Migrants and Travelers

VATICAN CITY (CNS) – Pope Benedict XVI appointed U.S. Cardinal Daniel N. DiNardo of Galveston-Houston and Cardinal John P. Foley, grand master of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher, to posts in the Roman Curia.
