VOCES VERITAS LECTURE SERIES – Hosted by Our Lady of Walsingham Institutes of Catholic Culture Studies. Voces Veritas presents this lecture series on the English martyrs to deepen our love for these holy men and women who stood manfully when the civil power sought to be all in all. They worked to build Jerusalem on England’s land, and in imitation of Christ, they hallowed that city with their blood, and sanctified it to God. In an age when, again, the state seeks to bring all power into itself, we study the lives of these saints, that they may teach us uncompromising courage, devotion and joy. Social: 6:30 to 7:10 p.m.; lecture: 7:15 to 8 p.m. and Q&A: 8 to 8:15 p.m. St. Jude Hall on church grounds, 7809 Shadyville Lane. Suggested minimum donation is $5 per person. Future lectures will be held Thursday evenings: Aug. 13 and 27; Sept. 10 and 24; Oct. 8 and 22; Nov. 12 and Dec. 10.
Silent Ignatian retreats – are based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, preached by the Priests of Miles Christi, a Catholic Religious Order devoted to the sanctification of the laity. Throughout the centuries, the Spiritual Exercises have become known as an excellent means of sanctification, highly praised by popes and saints. There will be spiritual talks, Eucharistic adoration, daily Mass and Rosary. Women’s Retreat is Oct. 23-25; Men’s Retreat is Nov. 13-15. For more information or to register, contact Michel Bachman at texas@spiritualexercises.net or at 832-425-2744.
